you need to create a backup for yourself a safety net in case you don’t have it already. Even if it means lesser dinner parties, eating out, buying a second hand car till the time you have created a source of passive income that covers your minimum requirements or needs at least for you to survive the fall of being without a job

Weaving Your Safety Net

Have you found yourself in the situation where you strongly disapprove of certain decision of your boss or management, but you chose not to say anything as you didn’t want to get into limelight or get into bad books of your boss or the HR, or you have taken some bullshit to avoid argument with your seniors coz you Couldn’t have afforded even to think about losing your job or landing in any other unpleasant situation. It sure did happen with me during various phases of my career, despite of my growing financial stability, and I’m sure many of you would agree with me and second my thoughts.
So why did it happen? Did I lack the required intent or content or intelligence or guts? After a detailed introspection I concluded that I lacked the required guts. Though difficult to accept it’s the reality and basic reason for most of us not being able to speak our mind out is absence of that “safety net”.
This was the case with me throughout the career despite of reasonable increments in my income. Why?, why because my job was my only source of my income and I never felt comfortable with the thought of losing it, the only and adequate source of income I had, or looking for a new job without being in a job even for a single day.
No offense to some of my dear friends and colleagues, not everyone has a financial backup to give them confidence of quitting the job at any point they want, and hence they compromise being assertive at some situations in their work environment.

This happened to me because I failed to build a source of adequate passive income or a safety net, leading to, me being less assertive in lot of situations, Had I planned well and made wiser investment decisions to create and develop a source of passive income for myself to meet my basic minimum requirements, I am convinced that I would have made few different career decisions and choices, plus I would have been more assertive and probably more successful at work.
The very reason I told you this experience of mine is to make you understand this important aspect of financial planning, right from the start of your very first job, on very first day that you start working. You need to understand that whatever you are spending should go into creating a certain level of passive income to be able to be more confident, assertive at work and to be able to make right career choices, you need to create a backup for yourself a safety net in case you don’t have it already. Even if it means lesser dinner parties, eating out, buying a second hand car till the time you have created a source of passive income that covers your minimum requirements or needs at least for you to survive the fall of being without a job. This also calls for making prudent financial decisions at various stages of your career, like regulating your expenditures, and investing wisely.
As your income changes keep adjusting your safety-net
